Hungry, homeless, cold and alone.
Both by circumstance and choices of their own.
One looks up.
Faith hovers around his heart.
Telling himself,
Don’t give up.
Cling tight to God’s word.
Do what is right.
The other wallows in self pity.
Blaming all who have crossed his path.
He tells himself,
You are nothing,
A worthless piece of trash.
A hardened heart.
No hope for a future.
One bides his time.
Saving every penny.
Thankful for the grace of God and strength.
His day comes.
A job and a home.
His obedient heart quietly lends a hand
To others in certain circumstances.
The other,
Sinking deeper into despair and depression.
Finally deciding this world
Would be better without him in it.
He jumps off of the bridge.
Releasing himself to the water.
Suddenly, he is pulled to safety
And carried away in an ambulance.
He wakes to find a stranger
Quietly sitting beside his bed.
The stranger speaks,
“I prayed to be delivered from the pain you are in.
God rescued me and now it’s your turn my friend”
1 Peter 1:7 (KJV)
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
